Description Antique Victorian Edwardian 18ct 18K Gold filigree hand made filigree Madonna and child porcelain brooch with blue stones. Size: 6.5cm or 2.5" (height) x 5.5cm or 2.25" (width) x 4mm (depth). Size of stones: 8mm (h) x 5mm (w) x 4mm (d). Size of porcelain centrepiece: 4cm (h) x 3cm (w) x 4mm (d). Hallmarked C18 with a Crown but I was told by the auctioneer it could be 20ct Gold. I purchased this brooch from a deceased estate auction in Malta many years ago. It is in excellent condition. Weight: 17.02 grams. This is a portrait of The Madonnina, commonly known as the Madonna of the Streets, a painting created by Roberto Ferruzzi (1854–1934). He is best known for the painting Madonnina[2] that won the second Venice Biennale in 1897. This painting became popularized as an image of the Virgin Mary holding her infant son, and has become the most renowned of Ferruzzi's works.
