Description St. Michael defeats satan with a nonchalant, casual effortlessness, placing him at the end of his sword, reduced to his weak form: “on your belly you shall crawl”. The rays of God’s glory shine out behind Michael, piercing the shadows that satan brings. No matter how formidable the devil is, and he is formidable for us humans, he’s absolutely nothing in the face of God’s power. St. Michael is the leader of the Heavenly Hosts and has particular authority over the devil.
