Description St. Joseph leans in, filled with awe and joy at the Child Jesus. The Messiah, finally here on Earth. Our Lady, filled with a peaceful joy, sits and supports Jesus in her lap as she covers Him in her mantle, blue for divinity and heaven. Traditionally Mary wears red and blue for her humanity (red) was covered in the divinity of God (blue) and here the sacred wrapping comes under Jesus and then loops around her body, flowing up and down, back and forth, and crashing back in on Jesus. Her veil is white in symbolism of her purity and perpetual virginity. It also creates a steppingstone between the shining star of Bethlehem and the small, swaddled, body of Our Lord. Jesus sleeps, head resting on His little hand. Completely safe and secure.
