Description Remember you will die. It’s recorded that some Saints would have a human skull on their desks to remind themselves of their Earthly death, and as a reminder that any moment could be their last: so do not waste the day and prepare yourself to meet the Lord. Memento Mori is also a reminder that when we are followers of Christ we must die to ourselves. We must live for others as Christ lived for us. But it is a joyful reminder – it’s not all doom and gloom because at the end of our days, if we have lived fully for Christ in accordance with His Church, we will get to Heaven – and only joy and laughter will be our lot. So remember you will die. And pray often for the grace of a holy death. In this rosary, the Hail Mary beads are a opulent purple-blue freshwater pearl nugget, each completely unique. They perfectly balance the sheen of the pearl skull beads (no wonder- they’re both pearls) and together create a mysterious, somber, death knell of a design. The crucifix is a scrolling, highly detailed crucifix with two angels adoring our crucified Lord, who died for our sins. The centerpiece is a similarly ornate windowed image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, both adding an air of ancient mystique. Taken all together, it’s a much more somber Memento Mori design, one that encompasses the gloominess of loosing a life; us having to continue our journey without loved ones and the knowledge that our loved ones will continue without us. But the beauty and mystery of this combination speak to the beautiful mystery that is what awaits us in Heaven. What is sorrow on earth will turn to laughter, but it’s behind a veil that only Our Lord can grant us access to. —————– On the heirloom style: Once I made the first amber rosary with the small-loop wire-wrapped links, I realized I really enjoy the soft repetition of linking bead after bead into a chain. And I absurdly loved how it looked and felt. I finally found a truly heirloom method of rosary making that actually looked good. Now, you may be thinking, what’s the big deal with this wire wrapping? So, if you notice on each bead link, there are two wraps between the loop and the bead. This is the wire turning back on itself and making it so the link NEVER opens up. That means no pulling it out of the rosary pouch only to find it in three pieces. And because of the 22 gauge wire, this means no spontaneous snapping of the link. It’s a rosary that is literally meant to be heirloom. It should never need to come back to me. But PLEASE remember that all things can break with excessive use or in extreme situations. Repairs can be made, and I would be delighted to do so, but as time goes on, I might not have extra amber or I might be gone. So do be gentle and take good care of your rosary. —- Materials: 8-9 mm “peacock” freshwater pearl Hail Mary beads 9mm carved skull white pearl Our Father beads 4mm copper hematite spacers solid bronze wire, 22 ga Large Windowed Immaculate Heart of Mary solid bronze centerpiece Large Crucifix with angels solid bronze crucifix centerpiece and crucifix made from casts of authentic vintage Catholic medals.
